We are pleased to present our Annual Report to the Community, featuring the endless possibilities available through establishing new funds, the enduring impact of grants made by them, and the wise stewardship we provide of the philanthropic dollars entrusted to us.
After matching donors’ intents with the needs of the community and performing due diligence on the recipient organizations, we awarded grants and scholarships totaling $24.9 million to 1,271 community organizations in 2014.
The discretionary funds available for The Foundation’s staff to grant to nonprofits that serve the region’s most vulnerable populations provided much needed General Operating Support and funding to strengthen their overall operations.
Grants made through donor funds supported nonprofit organizations in such areas as the arts, community development, diversity, education, health and social services for our region.
Stewardship of Assets
The Philadelphia Foundation’s asset base increased to $370 million as of Dec. 31, 2014. Our overall investment strategy emphasizes steady growth that minimizes risk.
